For International Women’s Day, we’re speaking with inspiring women from the PURELEI team. Today, Alisa, co-founder of the company, gives us insight into her journey – from founding PURELEI to navigating the challenges of balancing career and motherhood. A conversation about passion, growth, and the power of pushing beyond your limits. Get inspired!
Aloha, I’m Alisa, co-founder of PURELEI. We founded PURELEI in 2016, but what have I been doing since then? I think I’ve taken on almost every role at PURELEI, and now I continue to be deeply involved in the brand, driving things forward. That’s what truly matters to me.
Since becoming a mom, my children inspire me every day. Also, the people I surround myself with—at work, at PURELEI, and in my personal life. They give me new perspectives, allowing me to learn a little more every day and become a better version of myself. I believe that if you actively seek inspiration, you can find it everywhere in your daily life.
I want to inspire other women to be brave. To take risks means having the courage to do something without knowing the outcome. For me, that moment was when I found out I was going to be a mother. At the same time, PURELEI was my first “baby,” and I had to find a way to balance both. I had to be truly brave to embrace that challenge, and it has worked well for me. I want to encourage other women to hold onto their dreams, fight for them, and find ways to combine them with other aspects of life.
A big part of this comes from my mother and the values she instilled in me as a child. I’m realizing more and more how similar I am to her. But also, everyday encounters inspire me. I meet women and think, "Wow, how exciting! You know so much, and I want to learn from you." Women who take risks and step out of their comfort zones inspire me the most.
My superpower is my enthusiasm—both for my own passions and for inspiring others through them. When I talk about topics close to my heart, I can pass that enthusiasm on.
There are a lot of historical aspects behind it that are super important and relevant. But for me personally, it’s not just about that one day—it’s about raising awareness throughout the entire month. At PURELEI, we live by these values every day. Our team is 80% women, empowering and uplifting each other. That’s why we don’t limit these discussions to just one day a year—we live them and share them with the world. Still, I think it’s great that this day exists. It has relevance and importance because it helps focus extra attention on these issues.
To me, empowerment means living it in daily life. It starts with the smallest things and extends to bigger challenges. It’s about having people around you who encourage you, challenge you, and help you grow—people who push you to be brave and take risks.
A sense of calm and flexibility. I have friendships that have lasted for years, and that doesn’t mean we have to talk every day or even every week. Some of my closest friends live far away, and we don’t always see each other often. But when we do, it feels like we just met last week. These friendships are so valuable to me because they know my entire life story—I don’t have to start from scratch. I believe there’s something special about female friendships—a deep connection that becomes even more meaningful over time. The older I get, the more I appreciate these long-standing friendships built on genuine closeness and trust.
Taking risks, being brave, even when you don’t know how things will turn out. Encouraging others, empowering them, and doing all of this with a sense of flexibility. You don’t always need a perfect plan. Sometimes, you just have to take a leap, trust yourself, and focus on the positive outcomes along the way.
Being together, challenging each other, and growing together. Maybe making the wrong decision sometimes, but learning from it. When you do this within a supportive group—especially among women—it strengthens everyone. That’s what Together, We Grow is all about.
