Kamehameha the Great

Awe-inspiring sunsets, crystal clear waters, black sand beaches and tropical, lush rainforests ... It is not only Hawaii's natural beauty that inspires us daily, but also its rich culture and the connection between the both. So while our jewelry often features beautiful shells and pearls that pay tribute to the beautiful beaches, there is still so much inspiration that can be found in the ancient tales and legends and history of the beautiful islands in the Pacific.

Today, Hawaii, and the rest of the world, celebrates King Kamehameha, a former warrior, diplomat and leader of Hawaii who once united the Hawaiian islands to a united kingdom. The unification took place in 1810 and by doing so, the kingdom of Hawaii was able to grow and evolve into what it is today: A strong entity that is seen, respected and appreciated by the world. According to the legend, King Kamehameha was destined to achieve something great, being born after a bright star lit up the sky.

King Kamehameha, known as the father of the Hawaiian nation, is also known for laying the foundation for the "Aloha spirit law" that is encoded in the Hawaii Revised Statutes. The law declares that "Aloha Spirit" is the coordination of mind and heart within each person. It brings each person to the self. Each person must think and emote good feelings to others.

We, as a brand and human beings that are so much inspired by the the islands, history and culture of Hawaii, aim to live Aloha and pass it on to our customers, friends and family across the globe.

How we're doing this? By being kind to each other, respecting each other and being open and honest. But most especially, by giving back:

We are proud to state that, today, we have donated more than € 180.000 to environmental organizations as well as supported female empowerment causes and charities working with children. To us, it is always a great pleasure to work with organizations based in Hawaii, such as our dear friends from Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii. Together, we were able to pull 1264 pounds of plastic from the Hawaiian coastlines during last July, and we're very much looking forward for our next big campaign.

I can't wait to tell you more about it very soon!

Love Lauri
