What is My Birthstone?
January Birthstone: Garnet - Capricorn, Aquarius
The birthstone for those born in January under the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius is garnet. It glows in deep red and orange shades and, as a January birthstone, signifies friendship and stands for trust, passion, courage, and self-confidence. In medieval times, garnet was given to travelers by friends as a protective symbol to ensure they would return safely from their adventures.
February Birthstone: Amethyst - Aquarius, Pisces
In magical purple tones, amethyst shines as the February birthstone. If amethyst is your birthstone, it is said to bring you calm, peace, creativity, and safety, and it also stands for sincerity. Historically, it served as a royal symbol of power and is incorporated into many crown jewels. Its calming effect and connection to mental clarity make it an ideal stone for leaders and creative minds today.
March Birthstone: Aquamarine - Pisces, Aries
As the name suggests, aquamarine shines in the most beautiful blue tones of the sea. Perhaps that is why it is also considered a protective stone for sailors, meant to grant them courage. As a March birthstone, aquamarine symbolizes health, hope, happiness, love, and youth. According to legend, this gemstone comes from the treasure chests of mermaids—a charming notion, right?

April Birthstone: Clear Quartz - Aries, Taurus
Clear quartz is the birthstone for the zodiac sign Aries and those born in April under Taurus. Fitting its clear, shiny exterior, clear quartz as an April birthstone imparts purity, clarity, strength, wisdom, and courage. Its name was also given to this popular healing stone in antiquity after its ice-clear appearance, as people thought it was petrified ice—since the Greek word krystallos means ice.
May Birthstone: Chrysoprase - Taurus, Gemini
If you were born in May, chrysoprase is your birthstone. Known for its vibrant green tones, chrysoprase as a May birthstone stands for protection, courage, and self-confidence. It is also said to open the heart and facilitate change. In ancient cultures, this green stone was seen as a protective and healing stone: in ancient Egypt, it was supposed to protect against black magic and in ancient Greece against bad moods.
June Birthstone: Moonstone - Gemini, Cancer
Those born in June can call moonstone their birthstone, whose mysterious white-blue shimmer reminds us of the gentle glow of the moon. This is also where it gets its name, for in ancient Rome it was believed that moonstone was frozen moonlight. The June birthstone represents purity, beauty, intuition, contentment, and promotes harmonious balance. Moonstone is the stone for those who seek inner growth and understanding.
July Birthstone: Ruby - Cancer, Leo
In July, ruby is the birthstone, known for its magnificent pink-red as a symbol of passion, love, and vitality, but also associated with wisdom, dignity, and prestige. For all those born in July under the signs of Cancer and Leo, our July birthstone charm with the set ruby is the perfect companion. Incidentally, ruby is also called the king of gemstones and adorned the jewelry pieces of many kings who hoped for power and prosperity from it.
August Birthstone: Peridot - Leo, Virgo
The birthstone for August is peridot, whose light green tones remind us of fresh grass. The August birthstone stands for luck, determination, optimism, acuteness, and strength. Peridot is a beautiful symbol of the strength of nature and the ability to turn negative emotions into positive ones. This light green stone brings light into the darker months. There is also an interesting story from Hawaii from the year 2018: While the volcano Kilauea on the island of Big Island was active, the rising magma brought small peridot crystals from the deep rock layers to the surface, so it rained green crystals. Crazy, right?
September Birthstone: Lapis Lazuli - Virgo, Libra
With its intense deep blue and golden speckles, lapis lazuli is the September birthstone. Lapis lazuli is known as the stone of love and friendship, should promote self-confidence and courage, and support those in search of truth and knowledge. As archaeological finds have proven, this stone has been used for the manufacture of jewelry and accessories since prehistoric times and was revered by the Egyptians as the stone of the gods.

October Birthstone: Opal - Libra, Scorpio
The bright yellow opal is the birthstone for those born in October under the signs of Libra and Scorpio. The October birthstone is said to promote imagination and creativity and also stands for luck, knowledge, and success. Opals are found, among other places, in Australia and occupy a place in the creation myths of the Aboriginals, who gave the stone the name “fire of the desert.” No wonder, then, that the opal is the national gemstone of Australia.
November Birthstone: Citrine - Scorpio, Sagittarius
Suitable for bringing brightness into the wintry November, citrine radiates in warm yellow-orange tones. The November birthstone citrine is ideal for all those who strive for joy, hope, happiness, and loyalty. This bright, energy-charged stone was called the “stone of the sun” in ancient Egypt and was considered a gift from the sun god Ra.
December Birthstone: Turquoise - Sagittarius, Capricorn
Last but not least, turquoise closes the circle as the birthstone for December. With its intense blue and green tones, the December birthstone is said to grant peace, perseverance, and assertiveness and promote quick comprehension. What is the Difference Between a Gemstone and a Semi-Precious Stone?
In case you've ever wondered, here is an explanation, even though we spoke only of gemstones above for the sake of clarity. Traditionally, gemstones and semi-precious stones are terms used to describe the rarity, quality, and often the value of minerals that are processed into gemstones.
A gemstone is a rare, aesthetically pleasing mineral that is distinguished by its particular hardness and brilliance. This category includes only a small number of high-quality stones such as diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds.
A semi-precious stone is a mineral that is also used for jewelry and has beautiful optical properties, but is more common and generally less valuable than gemstones. Examples of semi-precious stones include amethyst, aquamarine, citrine, and turquoise. Although they are often less costly, they can still be very desirable and impressive in their beauty. Today, the distinction between gemstones and semi-precious stones is often considered outdated, as it does not reflect the true diversity and value of many stones.
